About Us

Learn more about our mission to help homeowners manage indoor moisture levels.

Our Mission

At mydehumidifiersize.com, our primary mission is to simplify home maintenance and health decisions. Excess indoor humidity is one of the leading causes of mold growth, musty smells, structural rot, and dust mite infestations. Finding the correct unit size is the first, most crucial step to reclaiming your space.

Why We Built This Tool

In 2020, the Department of Energy (DOE) officially modified the testing environment standards for dehumidifiers, reducing target testing temperatures from 80°F to 65°F. This regulatory change caused significant consumer confusion. A dehumidifier that was previously marketed as a "50-pint" unit is now labeled as a "35-pint" unit, even though the physical machine is identical.

We built our advanced dehumidifier sizing calculator to bridge this gap. Our tool calculates base capacities using official DOE Appendix X1 standards and applies real-world surcharges for high ceilings, regional climates, extra occupants, and moisture-heavy appliances so average consumers can shop with confidence.

Our Data and Accuracy

All calculations, guidelines, and checklists provided on our website are compiled from official industry resources, including the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) and the US Department of Energy standards. We continually update our parameters to reflect modern engineering standards.
